Happy United Nations Day from Teen-Age Love!

"Romance Can Be Found in Many Places..."
Cover by Dick Giordano for Charlton's
Teen-Age Love #37 (May 1964)

Happy United Nations Day 2011!!! Believe it or not, I had more than one UN themed romance comic cover up my sleeve! When you think about it though, the UN isn't such a strange setting for a romance story considering the organization's importance and prestige after the Second World War. While in college, I completed a month long seminar at the United Nations and believe me, the General Assembly and Security Council Chamber are quite glamorous!!! With all that mid-century design it would be hard not to fall in love at the UN!

  1. Awesome! This cover really captures that 'tail fins are going out of style' era so strongly.

  2. Oooh, a month before I was born! I'd love to see more UN-covers. And my, had the artist ever seen a teenager?

  3. I really love this cover too... all the colors work well together, but I agree Martin -- the characters are quite old looking! That is one of the reasons I prefer the later romances to the '40s and '50s -- the characters really exude youth!

  4. Dick Giordano's the culprit, if I'm not mistaken!

  5. I think you are probably right on that, Richard! I shall amend the post!
