Teen-Age Love #44

Hi all! I just want to take a minute to wish you and yours a very Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! I'm enjoying my first Christmas in Tennessee with nary a snowflake in sight, and I'm kinda diggin' it! Wherever you are, I hope you get the opportunity to have a few relaxing days with friends and family. Thanks again for all your comments and support. I can't say it enough -- I have the best readers in the world! And if you missed it, a few days ago I did an interview over at Splice Today about Sequential Crush and romance comics in general. Be sure to read to the end because I have a little surprise for you! Happiest of holiday wishes!

  1. Hello Jacque,

I enjoyed reading your interview, including the part about your appearance on "History Detectives". Regarding that issue of "Negro Romances", are you aware that there is a scan online of that issue, complete except for the inside front & back covers? It is hosted by the Digital Comic Museum, at this URL: http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?dlid=17347

Enjoy, and merry Christmas to you and yours.

  2. Hi Jacque:

Thanks for all you’ve done over the past several years of shedding light on the long-neglected
romance comics genre. Although I wouldn’t have touched them with a ten-foot pole back in the
day, I find them fascinating in retrospect. Lots of great art in there by many of my super-hero faves.

Don’t know if you’ve seen it, but there’s a great article on Todd Klein’s Blog on DC romance
editor Zena Brody at this link: http://kleinletters.com/Blog/more-on-zena-brody-dc-editor/

BTW, that’s a Dick Giordano cover on that Teen-Age Love #44.

Season’s Greetings and a Happy New Year!

    Jake Oster

    1. Great link, Jake! I will share on FB and twitter! I'm so glad you enjoy the romance comics now :)

  3. Dear Jacque: Happy Holidays to you, too! I am so happy to have found "Sequential Crush" earlier this year, and to have stopped "lurking" as a reader-only and instead taken the plunge to comment on your great posts. You and the other commenters have helped me learn so much about the fascinating genre of romance comics, and have helped me find hours of pleasure now that I've become a reader of the romance comics myself.

I also read your interview at Splice Today, and I wish you much luck with your book proposal! I think it would be fantastic if you can continue to share your discoveries and insights about romance comics with a wider audience!

    Best, Dave Kucharski

    1. Thank you so much, Dave! I am so lucky to have such fantastic readers such as yourself that take the time to comment and share their feelings and insights on the romance comics! Happy Holidays!
